Real reason behind Pogba's transfer

The head of Juventus Giuseppe Marotta has revealed that the reason behind the sale touPol Pogkmpa to Manchester United this summer was purely on the player who wants a "new adventure".

The Frenchman left the Serie A for a staggering £ 89m deal to make a sensational return to Old Trafford after leaving the club in 2012 looking for more playing time and despite the gegonosoti Juve desperately wanted to keep the player.

The Giuseppe Marotta also said: "We have always said that we did not want to sell him Pogba given its importance to the team, the club and the fans.

"But once he decided to start a new adventure at Manchester United, it became difficult or even impossible to keep him, so allow him to fulfill his wish.

"At Juventus, always have faith that the fate of the player remains his choice either to stay or to leave the group."

Despite the loss of such a player, the team was strengthened by the market with £ 79m of striker Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli. However, Marotta denied that those two agreements were linked, and that the club is always looking to bring new faces.

"It is our job to continue to strengthen the team every year," said Marotta, "and we had planned this summer to strengthen our offensive line.

"One of our goals as planned was Higuain.

"The fact that we could buy him at a time when Pogba decided to leave was purely coincidental."
